Aaron Hughes’s Expertise During my GCSEs I gained a BTEC National Certificate in Engineering. Since joining L&P I enrolled onto a BTEC Level 4 HNC course in Building Services Engineering (Electrical) of which I have completed. At the beginning of my time within the Building Sevices industry I became very proficient in the Amtech and DIALux software completing complex calculations in both, also learning to create complex 3D lighting models in DIALux. Adding to my knowledge in the design process I improved my basic CAD skills that I gained on the BTEC National Certificate that I gained during my GSCEs. Also I spent time with other Engineers learning and designing small power and lighting designs, completing site visits, and snagging buildings. Following progression as an intermediate engineer, I moved into a Senior Role, directly completing complex designs, and engaging with design teams on large residential projects from Stages 2 – 5. This also included construction level information within the software Revit. After several years as a Senior member of the team and 12 years at Long and Partners, this has now progressed into the role of an Associate. Managing a team on large residential projects as well as commercial projects from feasibility stages through to Stage 5 designs.
