After working as a Team Lead and Tig Welder in exotic metals for some time there, I was offered an opportunity to learn Electron Beam Welding. I found it challenging and extremely fun at the same time. I have also been in the Semiconductor industry through Swagelok in Tempe Arizona as a Custom Solutions Tech and Orbital Welder. At SpaceX, I worked in the F9 Orbital Weld Department and supported both 1st and 2nd stage tube welding with a 1-year contract. I am now creating work instructions for production parts along with supporting QTR, PQR, and WPS documents in accordance with AWS D17.1. I use Solidworks to create 3D models for tooling and fixture design. I update shop traveler op's and notes to reflect work performed in the welding department. I also assist in the Nadcap auditing process. This has been a fun and challenging role and I have learned a great deal about the engineering side of manufacturing.
