  When I was nine years old, my mom bought me The Chronicles of Narnia, which made me fall in love with reading, and for the rest of my childhood and into adulthood, reading kept me going and kept me inspired. In high school, my wonderful teachers taught me to explore the deep themes in books and help you see the world in a whole new way. It was at that point in my life that I decided that I wanted to be a teacher, to inspire kids to love reading like I do, to think critically about it, and also to become good writers. In our fast paced world, communication is an essential skill, and written communication is a key form of that skill. Unfortunately, most people today are not good writers. As a teacher, I am committed to help my students master writing. I focus on brainstorming, because good ideas are the foundation of good writing, organization, because organization is key to clear communication, and crafting good arguments, because good arguments are convincing. I also strongly believe in teaching the skill of asking questions, encouraging students to be curious and understand not just what they believe, but why they believe it. Throughout my first year of teaching, I am still learning new things every day, but I have watched my students become more organized and more interesting writers, and in years to come, I hope to see much more growth!
