Adeeb Fazah’s Expertise A theatre director and drama educator based in Singapore. Adeeb is the Artistic Director of The Second Breakfast Company, advocating for young and emerging talent on professional stages, directing works from the Singapore theatre canon like Family (2016), The Moon is Less Bright (2018) and The Singapore Trilogy (2021) as well as full stagings of new work by emerging theatremakers such as The Old Woman and the Ox (2018), Performing Malay Sketches (2019) and The Essential Playlist (2022). Adeeb has worked with Bhumi Collective and Adeeb & Shai on dead was the body till i taught it how to move (2018) and Last of Their Generation, which was presented at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2017. As artist-in-residence of Gateway Theatre, Adeeb directed Heather (2019), which featured Karen Tan, Andy Tear and designers Petrina Dawn Tan and Ng Sze Min. Adeeb is also a founding member of Impromptu Meetings, whose digital performance of The Late Night Show with Xiao Ming (2021) was commissioned for a live staging in the Esplanade Concourse as part of Foreword. In 2021, Adeeb was part of the organising committee of STRIKE! Digital Festival, which saw seven independent theatre groups come together and put up digital performances on various platforms such as Telegram, Instagram and Tiktok. He is also co-founder of In the Round, a network of early career theatre directors in Singapore. He also works with young people as a freelance educator for drama-in-curriculum and CCA programmes in various secondary schools, polytechnics and junior colleges. He is currently involved with two drama clubs. He has worked with the Nanyang Polytechnic Social Work department in 2018 and 2020 on their Community Engagement module which tackles social issues such as mental health and reintegration of ex-offenders, where he gave guidance and direction to the students in writing and staging a play that tackles these issues. In April of 2022, Adeeb became a Committee Member of Singapore Drama Educators Association where he continues to advocate for drama, the arts and the youth.
