  I have been working in the field of transgenics for 25 years now. I was originally trained in the laboratories’ of Drs. Thomas Jessell and Richard Axel at Columbia University, and since then under the guidance of Drs. Paul Soloway and Kenneth Gross, helped start the Transgenic Facility in 1999 at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Since 1999, I’ve received my Master’s Degree in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology and subsequently my PhD with then Deputy Director Kunle Odunsi. In my research, I have used genetically modified mouse models to address my research questions, which has given me direct hands-on experience to educate investigators utilizing our Resource on all aspects of generating genetically modified organisms from project planning through phenotypic analysis, and even complex breeding strategies. I have trained five technicians during this time, and have developed services here to account for the rapidly changing transgenic technology field, and have included services related to mouse reproductive technologies as well. In 2006, I joined the International Society for Transgenic Technologies as a member, and in 2009 was elected as a member of the Executive Committee. Since then I have held elected roles of Treasurer and now Vice President of the ISTT. Through this affiliation, and through attending workshops and conferences, I’ve kept current in the field, and have built a strong relationships with colleagues in the transgenic and mouse reproduction fields who are in the same capacity as I.
