My passion for teaching technical writing stems from my own education and work experience. In 2015, I completed my English MA at Trent University with the express purpose of teaching at the college level. In addition to my Graduate Degree, I hold a Bachelor of Education Degree (York University) and an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree (University of Toronto), where I majored in English and History. These qualifications, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Journalism (Seneca), have led to diverse employment opportunities that include teaching at various levels, and writing for sports’ media outlets (TSN, The OHL Network) and music magazines (Wavelength Music Series) . These experiences have deepened my appreciation for the art of communication and have set the foundation for my post-secondary teaching philosophy. I believe that I am a college instructor with a unique cross-section of knowledge. My past experiences have both enriched my approach to classroom instruction and enhanced my ability to communicate and relate to my students. I look forward to continuing to provide a positive learning environment at Durham College, where my Science and Engineering Technology students can gain the fundamental writing skills required to gain and sustain successful careers in their chosen industry.
