Alex Maldonado’s Expertise Empowering customers by providing full IBM Power Linux based solutions that can be implemented into customer’s environment in an easy and automated way. Provided customers Power based solutions with Coherent Accelerator Processor Interface (CAPI) and flash storage to reduce latency, improve jitter and leverage all available IOPs.* Lead power engineer for IBM's pSeries low-end systems. Leading both local and international teams to design IBM's power system designs. * Responsible to lead the execution of the power distribution design of the next generation IBM low-end P-series server. * Progressively training new international power integrity team (Taiwan) that will assist with future server designs. * Led efforts for power integrity design and lab verification on IBM's latest P-series ITE Blade designs. * Worked with ODM vendors that helped with simulation and design of certain card designs within our P-series systems.* International assignment in the emerging market of Recife, Brazil. Worked with a global team of IBMers from 10 different countries to provide consulting services to non-profit organizations. * Primary project my team led was to provide an assessment of an NGO's current process for monitoring students' information, document Enter Joven Plus program results and impacts, and develop a solution for compiling, processing and presenting this information in a smarter, more cost-effective manner.* Responsible for power distribution and analysis in PCB card designs in IBM's Power6 and Power7 low-end and mid-range systems. Design responsibilities included end to end power delivery, and developing decoupling solutions for major IBM custom ASICs. * Worked closely with 1st level package designers on processor module hardware/model correlation and package-level decoupling solutions. * Performed lab verification on card designs which included AC/DC characterization, time-domain voltage droops, chip impedance characterization (clock gating), and troubleshooting of new designs during bring-up phase. * Executed signal integrity (SI) end to end simulations on both industry standard busses and internal IBM busses.Assisted the power decoupling and signal integrity groups with various tasks on several pSeries server models. Worked on such projects as chip power supply impedance modeling/simulation/verification, power supply hot swap testing, power rail DC/AC noise verification, Power 5 processor performance testing, processor susceptibility testing, cost reduction experiments involving voltage regulated modules (VRMs), various lab debugging, and printed circuit board layout reviews.
