Alice Forrest’s Expertise Inspired by the wonder of the ocean to share science & conservation solutions. Guiding people to the wildest places on earth, researching and learning more about the issues and communicating the science of our seas through presentations, podcasts, articles and books. I've been researching marine plastic pollution for a decade, alongside being a divemaster and freediver, so after seeing the best and worst of our oceans I now work to share my knowledge and inspire others to protect what they love. I'm passionate about marine conservation and education & believe that through positive experiences and hope, people are inspired to enact positive change to minimise their impact. My career background is largely in hands-on conservation, science & research, guiding, marine tourism, field-work, and community organising and outreach. This includes extensive work in remote locations, as well as in roles of community management and as an assistant expedition leader. I have worked in a range of industries and positions in order to share my love of the wild, and discover the best ways to bring about change. As a scientist, my research has largely focused on marine plastic pollution, studying the extent and impact of plastic in the ocean, inside our seafood and across the South Pacific & Indian Oceans, including the world's most polluted beach - the remote Henderson Island. I believe that scientific communication is critical, to translate data & statistics into knowledge that we can share as a global community to better inform individual actions and legislative decisions. By both participating in, and disseminating scientific knowledge, I hope to empower people to make informed decisions and access current research and information. With my own research into plastic pollution, as well as marine mammals, I have a solid grounding in marine issues. As a guide, I truly enjoy taking people to encounter wild places and learn more about wildlife, and my educational background and experience enables me to share a deeper and more meaningful encounter. Additionally, as a Divemaster and Freediver I love making people comfortable in the marine environment & opening their eyes to the magic under the sea. Ultimately fostering not just a connection, but a responsibility to conserve.
