Allanah Lang’s Expertise I started working right out of high school at a small, family ski resort in Grand County as a lift operator, but don't let that put you off; I know how to do more than shovel and push buttons. Within my first year at the resort I was promoted to a foreman position within the lift department and hired to work on the golf course as a greenskeeper. The next four years saw me hired transfer into ski patrol where I also become a foreman, snowmaking where I was a night shift crew lead after one year, and became the resorts landscape designer and horticulturist. During this time I also received my OEC and EMT-IV certifications that I utilized during my employment with an event medical company that runs out of Hayden, CO. Making the change from a smaller resort to Winter Park Resort was abrupt but incredible to be privy to the full scope of resort operations, and I took full advantage of the work environment to learn everything I could from anyone who would teach me. Due to this, I have accumulated light and heavy engine mechanics, snowmobiling, heavy machinery operations, chainsaw certifications, a degree of shoveling perfection that is breathtaking, snowcat operation and mechanics, snowmaking operation and leadership, education curriculums, excel spreadsheet experience, inventory and ordering, mentorship and developing continued education, and so many other skills that will never matter until I am either running a ski resort or a farm. I have recently made the monumental transition to Emergency Management and have found new depths of potentially useless or useful information to dive into. I am excited to head into this wilderness and discover where my strengths can help and where I can continue to grow as a professional who seeks to make their community a better place to live for everyone, whether I am answering the EMS call-outs or creating EAPs and training schedules.
