Amy Diano’s Expertise I am a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology for Belton ISD in Central Texas. I specialize in conducting comprehensive assessments for Autism, Emotional Disturbance, Intellectual Disability, Other Health Impairment, and Specific Learning Disability, as well as in consultation and collaboration with teachers and parents. I am trained in the Dual Discrepancy/Consistency method of PSW SLD identification. • I graduated with my Education Specialist degree in School Psychology from Baylor University in May 2019. • I graduated from The University of Alabama in May 2016 with a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies, concentration in Family Studies, with minors in Computer-Based Honors and Psychology. • My Family Studies background has helped me understand the importance of the Strengths model; in this model, strong families are built from the bottom up. This positive perspective influences my philosophy as a School Psychologist - every child is good and is capable of and worthy of an education. Research • My previous research stemmed from a larger dissertation project in which I analyzed the Value Affirmation task. I assisted my research director through many stages of her dissertation, from making the call book to conducting interviews. I presented my research in a poster at the International Conference for Child and Adolescent Psychopathology at the University of Roehampton in London, England in July 2015. • In the summers of 2014 and 2015, I worked as an undergraduate research assistant for the Coping Power Program. I conducted in-home interviews with parents and children and loved every interaction. I also called families and scheduled interviews. •In summer 2016, I became a Research Aide in the same lab, and took on more responsibility as I trained new undergraduates, worked on the new lab website, and continued to call and schedule families.
