My goal when interacting with a client is identifying how they could benefit from assistance and finding a solution if possible. I am a graduate of George Mason University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Through my eight years of working in non-profit organizations, I have discovered my passion for helping those in need. I have worked with a variety of populations who have helped in developing my interpersonal and crisis management skills in professional settings, including individuals living with physical and intellectual disabilities, homeless young mothers, stroke survivors, and children of all ages. Primarily, my interest lies in helping those living with mental health conditions and various disabilities. Volunteering at the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) HelpLine has provided me the privilege of directly assisting those living with mental health conditions and their loved ones. I have learned empathy and compassion when an individual often call in distress about their loved one living with a mental health condition. Presently, I work as a recovery support specialist at Gateway Homes, group homes for adults with mental illness. These experiences have taught me patience and understanding that allow me to better serve my clients' needs.
