I believe that there's never a dull day in this field, and I enjoy the fact that no two challenges are ever quite the same. I started with LEGO Technic sets, including Mindstorms, and my desk still has a pile of parts for rapidly testing new linkages or gear assemblies I might come up with or hear about. I own a "Printerbot Maker's Edition" 3D printer assembled from a kit, and I've used it with SolidWorks to produce custom parts for projects running on several controller architectures. I still feel a sense of childlike wonder and pride when a motor runs in closed-feedback control for the first time on a project, and I'm hoping to inspire the same feelings as a teacher.
