Antonio Goncalves’s Expertise • Twenty-four years of experience in the Aerospace industry, performing static and dynamic stress, fatigue and damage tolerance analyses on aircraft structures. • Full knowledge of design and certification procedures (FAR/EASA 25), static, buckling, fatigue and damage tolerance analyses for primary components of airframes including: Fuselage Skin and Frame, Door surround structures, Pressure Bulkhead, Floor beams, Seat tracks, Keel Beam structure, Wing Ribs, Spar, Wing Box (Span-wise Beams, Upper & Lower Chords), Outboard Flaps, Ailerons, Nacelle (Thrust Reverser, Fan Cowling), Horiz. Stabilizer and Wing to Fuselage fairing, mechanical joints, fittings, lugs and rings. • Highly experienced in analytical strength and buckling methods as well as classic hand calculation supported by advanced excel-VBA code, spreadsheets and other in-house developed programs. (Classical methods such as ESDU, Boeing Design Manuals (BDMs) and Boeing Books 2 and 3, Airbus Structural Manuals, Bruhn, M. C. Y. Niu) and also approved Stress and DaDT analysis workstation tools (such as Boeing’s JOLT, S.A.+, CSW, IAS, GKJOINT, IDTAS, DTANAL, FEADMS and Moss-Duberg). • Experienced in fatigue and damage tolerance analyses including damage estimates, LEFM (Linear Static Fracture Mechanics) crack propagation and residual strength analysis using NASGRO and AFGROW (crack propagation and residual strength) software. • Proficient in major FEM codes, associated pre/post processors and software utilities in mainframe, workstation and PC environments, including: MSC-NASTRAN, MSC-PATRAN, FEMAP for detail and global modeling of structures with linear and non-linear solutions, buckling and dynamic analysis (transient response and modal solutions), extraction of internal loading and stress distributions under various flight, ground and thermal load conditions. Skilled with ABAQUS and experienced with Altair Hypersizer, general sizing and optimization of solid laminates and honeycomb panels. • Experienced in stress analysis and mechanics of damage of composite aircraft structures (CFRP/Fiberglass solid laminate and Honeycomb panel structures) for Ailerons and Flaps. Multiple analyses by using Spirit and Boeing composite strength methodologies. Developing new MathCAD and VBA code templates for composite structure analysis and general lamina-laminate strength & stiffness behavior. • Experienced in developing, following up and witnessing Full Scale Structural tests (Static and Residual Strength) and also sub-component structural tests (Side of Body Upper Joints).
