During her time there, Basma showed eagerness to become a strong contributor to projects that involved creating novel methodologies whether to enhance the product capabilities or to introduce new functionalities. She was successful in achieving that target by supporting the multi-patterning product as well as providing clever insights and ideas to improve this emerging product at the time. Basma is currently part of the Siemens Calibre nmLVS product engineering team in Cairo. Her responsibilities include identifying new product needs and collaborating with worldwide software engineering teams to help achieve that. She also provides in-depth technical support to members of the field engineering teams as well as customers. Basma developed a specific interest in the silicon photonics circuit verification project. She was keen to prove herself in this area and that entailed gaining as much technical knowledge as possible, so she started doing extensive research, consulting with her mentors as well as her experienced colleagues and broadening her technical abilities through hands-on inquiry based learning. This contributed to the successful creation and implementation of an innovative approach to perform circuit verification for photonic designs. That approach was recognized by Siemens panel of experts to be patent-worthy. In addition, Basma collaborated with some of the most prominent experts in that field and succeeded in publishing a blog, a technical paper as well as an article. Outside the electronics realm, Basma enjoys the company of her family and friends. She also loves traveling, hiking, watching movies, reading adventure novels and working out.
