Also key to my research interests is how citizens consume media texts and interact with the media. It is important to understand meanings that media audiences in various spatial contexts make out of media texts if ever we are to be sure of the impact that the media have on political, economic and socio-cultural goals, processes and transformation in society. Reception analyses to establish the media’s power in shaping unity in diversity, democracy, tolerance, attitude and behaviour change, and development among audiences who equally have power to reject, negotiate and/or adopt media messages are of great interest to me.
