Brian Cheng’s Expertise If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my 20-year career as a technology leader and digital transformation strategist at IBM and now at Avery Dennison it’s this….never judge a book by its cover, you just might miss something with seismic potential. Whether it’s a seasoned digital technology leader with the face of a 17-year old or a software solution that just hasn’t gotten a foothold in the market – underestimating either’s potential could be a game-changing mistake for the company 😉 My secret to success is always looking deeper, whether it's a new (or old) technology or a team member, I always take time to dig deeper and truly consider the possibilities people and technology offer -- this makes me a perfect fit for digital transformation roles. I started my career in programming, climbing the ladder until I reached digital transformation leadership roles. I help teams unearth often-overlooked problems and increase business value by creating smart solutions to pressing issues. My teams have developed Smart Factories, connected remote industrial equipment, and other technology advances that boosted quality, saved time, and improved safety for team members in remote locations. I’ve learned a lot since my early days at IBM. I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible people and some of the brightest minds in technology. Leading diverse teams of 100+ across US, Europe, India, China, and Hong Kong through some pretty tough challenges opened my eyes to a few universal truths of leadership – truths that shape every decision I make as a leader and a mentor. What are they? Well…I’ll tell you: 💡 Passion needs no translation – it’s understood in every language. 💡 Patience is a virtue and a gift, to be given generously when learning to live in and understand different cultures. 💡 Real leaders listen first and speak last – humbly seeking to learn from the team. 💡 The TEAM wins. 💡 If you want your company to thrive, get your priorities straight: 👥 PEOPLE take care of the products, 💻 PRODUCTS take care of the company – PEOPLE ALWAYS COME FIRST. 💡 Last but not least, the 🔑 to success is this: Remember your 3 R’s: the RIGHT team executing the RIGHT strategy at the RIGHT time. I thrive in partnership and embrace new perspectives. If we haven't connected yet and you'd like to expand your network, join mine by hitting "connect" and let's talk tech -- or golf -- or better yet, BOTH!
