We were at the forefront of developing solution phase parallel synthesis techniques of combinatorial chemistry. I was hired as a Senior Chemist, quickly promoted to Group Leader of process chemistry, then to Director of our Lead Optimization programs. The business model was as a Contract Research Organization working with companies in the Pharmaceutical and Agrochemical areas. In 2005 I transitioned to fundamental research by working again at Harvard Medical School at McLean Hospital. Funded by a four year NIDA sponsored grant, my projects were in the exploration of opioid interactions with their receptors to develop a greater understanding of mechanisms of drug addiction. While at McLean I was approached by an editor at Wiley to write a book on Medicinal Chemistry Approaches to the Treatment of Drug Addiction that was published in 2014. From 2009 to the present, I have engaged in teaching chemistry to undergraduate and graduate students. The majority of teaching has been in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, and Spectroscopic Analysis.
