  I’m a business writing consultant/writing lab coordinator for Utah Valley University (UVU), and I have been in this position for seven years. In this role, I teach writing principles and tutor students and faculty on assignments and resumes for classes in the Woodbury School of Business at UVU. Classes I am specifically trained in include the following: MKTG 220G (Written Business Communication), MGMT 3000 (Organizational Behavior), and MGMT 4860 (Business Strategy Formulation and Implementation). I have tutored hundreds of students and faculty throughout my years with the organization. Not only has this large number of clients allowed me to continually develop communication skills—both written and verbal—but it has also allowed me to continue developing relationships with the students, staff, and faculty. While working as a writing consultant, I also taught the MKTG 220G course as an Adjunct Professor at UVU, and before that, I was a middle school art teacher at Uintah Middle School. Although teaching was not what I had initially planned—as marketing/advertising truly has stolen my heart—I developed a love and passion for teaching. Teaching allowed me to see that one teacher can have a major impact on students. Through this realization, I decided I needed my MBA so I could continue to teach—whether as a full-time professor or as an adjunct. Before attending/working at UVU, I attended a small high school in Vernal, Utah. At this high school, I was lucky enough to be involved with the community as the following: • DECA officer • FBLA officer • Varsity cheerleader • Business and Marketing Sterling Scholar • Community Service Supervisor • Utah’s 2016 Emerging Leader • Valedictorian As I slowly transitioned into college, I maintained a high GPA and have been on the dean’s list every semester. The second I started attending UVU and working towards my major, I realized I am truly passionate about marketing and advertising. Although I adore everything about this career field, the innovative aspect is what made me sure I was passionate about this profession. It reminds me every day that everyone is unique and not a single carbon copy exists on this planet, so why should a product or service be treated the same way? My experience in team projects, sense of coordination and planning, and roles involving leadership allow me to continue pursuing my goal to advertise (and now teach as well!) someday.
