Campbell Docherty’s Expertise I am a highly experienced senior communications and stakeholder engagement specialist and have led the delivery of integrated communications strategies and campaigns on some of the biggest infrastructure projects in the UK over the past two decades. I am passionate about the importance of communications and relationship management in the delivery of public projects, policy and the purpose and objectives of organisations. I have a strategic approach to identification of opportunities and problems and advise and deliver on creative, unfussy solutions. I have worked for and with organisations such as Transport Scotland, Jacobs, Arup, Fairhurst, AtkinsRealis, The BIG Partnership and more. I have established and led communications teams at corporate and project level and managed and helped develop the skills and experience of colleagues. One career highlight so far was leading communications and stakeholder engagement for the Queensferry Crossing, one of the most significant infrastructure projects in Scotland and the wider United Kingdom in recent years. I managed the high profile project's reputation for over a decade, from the earliest public consultation in 2007 to 2017's spectacular, globally reported opening events. I helped launch the Scottish Government's agency Transport Scotland as Head of News in 2006, managing its media operations across the agency's road and (recently devolved) rail franchising powers. I latterly became the Agency's first Head of Strategic Communications, responsible for devising and delivering integrated communications strategies across a programme of Scottish Government infrastructure projects totalling billions of pounds. I am a highly skilled, innovative communications professional with many years experience providing strategic communications advice direct to most of the Scottish Ministers who have held the transport brief since 2006, senior civil servants and civil engineers. I have procured and managed suppliers, worked effectively and authoritatively with contractors and partners. My career started as a journalist at the Birmingham Post, ending up as a senior correspondent before moving into government communications. Away from work I am a performing and songwriting musician. I love swimming, playing football and among varied interests I am a big reader (fiction, history, politics, popular culture etc) and I enjoy cinema, travel and good food.
