Cedric Hernalsteens’s Expertise Building from a strong background in physics, engineering and computer science, with 8 years of experience in research and development in accelerator physics and proton therapy, my aim is to combine disruptive beam physics technologies and methods with data-driven numerical models to enable the future of radiation therapy for cancer treatment. Currently my research interests are developed with Ion Beam Applications (IBA), in collaboration with the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) - where I lead a research group of Master and doctoral students - centered around numerical modeling methods for proton therapy installations, with a special focus on future gantry developments. Additionally, I am active in the design and development of proton therapy upgrade projects with IBA.
