Charles Magee’s Expertise I am a Texas real estate attorney and real estate developer and I have spent approximately 60% of my time in Saudi Arabia since 1980. In the Kingdom I provide legal advice and strategic consulting to various Government agencies as well as foreign and Saudi commercial companies. In Texas, I owned and managed a real estate company that developed real estate subdivisions and townhome projects. My developments included a 468 lot subdivision as well as a 64 unit townhome project. My first position in Saudi Arabia was the legal advisor for the Riyadh Development Authority, where I directed a team responsible for managing contracts for Infrastructure and building projects valued in excess of USD 1.0 billion. I was involved in drafting and negotiating planning, design, and construction contracts, as well as contract administration and dispute resolution. Our projects included the Riyadh Diplomatic Quarter, GCC Headquarters Building, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Staff Housing Project, and King Fahad Freeway. During my second tenure in the Kingdom, I worked for the law firm of Saleh Al Hejailan, in association with Clifford Chance. My clients included the King Faisal Foundation and Kingdom Centre, and I was the attorney for their premier mixed-use real estate developments in Saudi Arabia. I also successfully resolved construction disputes involving hundreds of millions of dollars on behalf of a German company relating to three EPC contracts in Saudi Arabia. Other construction clients included Hyundai Heavy Industries Corporation, National Methanol Company, and Abdullah Al Shuwayer Company. More recently I was the general counsel for the Al Khozama Management Company, the profit-making arm of the King Faisal Foundation, for six years. This assignment also included acting as general counsel for Alfaisal University, and providing legal advice to the Foundation. I have advised the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry for Municipal and Rural Affairs, and two Saudi government owned entities, Advanced Water Technology (AWT), and Tadawul Real Estate Company (TREC). Other significant Saudi clients include advising the Embassy of the United States on land acquisition, Almutlaq Real Estate Investment Company, and Salman Abdullah Bin Salman Real Estate Group.
