Chris Long’s Expertise I’m a senior engineer with broad experience in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, as well as hydraulic design for riverine flood hazard reduction, bank repair, and habitat restoration. Since joining NHC in 2001, I have built hydraulic models to support bank stabilization designs; evaluate bridge hydraulics and scour; assess extents and timing of road flooding and design and calculate impacts of engineered logjams. In addition to extensive experience building or overseeing development of hydraulic models I have designed and provided construction oversight on large-scale river protection works on the Green, Puyallup, Stillaguamish, Wynoochee, and Snoqualmie Rivers in addition to smaller projects on creeks throughout WA. And I have led or engineered multiple floodplain mapping projects within western Washington and southern British Columbia - from the Fraser River to small urban creeks. Finally a fun fact, I started NHC’s drone program in WA in 2016 and am an FAA certified remote pilot.
