Craig Rayner’s Expertise In 2022, Craig was appointed as the inaugural Director of Regional Research Centre (RRC) for Respiratory Medicines and Tropical Diseases, at Moderna, where he led the creation of Moderna's R&D regional footprint. In 2024, Craig was appointed to Director Translational Medicine, Infectious Diseases Clinical Development based at the RRC. From 2018 to Craig established and led Integrated Drug Development (IDD) consultancy division at Certara, a biosimulation enabled drug development consultancy that “accelerates medicines”. Certara supports >90% of NDAs each year. He also established and co-led Certara Global Health until 2020. As President he was a key contributor to Certara's USD768m IPO and reaching peak market cap >USD7Bn. In 2021 he returned to Australia as the inaugural Certara distinguished scientist and was Director of Certara Australia. Prior to its acquisition by Certara, Craig was co-founder and CEO of d3 Medicine. d3 Medicine was a consultancy that provided Strategic Planning & Stewardship of Complex Drug Development Programs. Prior to d3 Medicine, Craig's past appointments included leadership roles in Clinical Pharmacology and Early development (Roche), Clinical development (CSL-Behring), in Business Development/Licensing as Global Due Diligence Director (Roche) & as a clinical academic researcher in clinical pharmacology and infectious disease research (Monash University). He has extensive experience in early & late development of a range of medicine modalities, regulatory interaction experience with all major global health authorities, incl multiple FDA adcoms, filings & approved new medicines and accountability for numerous due diligences, active support of negotiations, deal making and integration activities. Craig is a Research Professor (Adjunct - Monash University) & Distinguished Alumni of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (Monash University), is broadly published in clinical pharmacology and also infectious diseases with more than 120 publications/book chapters including in NEJM, Lancet, Science, CPT & has clinical experience in these areas. Craig is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. Craig enjoys mountain biking - particularly when he is not having close encounters with tiger snakes or trees. He supports the Richmond Tigers in the Australian Football League.
