Our mission statement at RED NOSES is simple: “to bring humour and laughter to those in need of joy”. Long version: I'm a degree educated, native English speaker, who has over 10 years managerial experience; with many of those roles being responsible for recruiting, training, health & safety and day to management for teams of up to 20-60 people. I work for RED NOSES International, a non-profit artistic organisation, in their Emergency Smile programme. We send specially trained healthcare clowns & a Head of Mission into areas of crisis in cooperation with international aid organisations. In the last few years I’ve led teams on over 14 humanitarian missions to: - Greece (Lesvos, Athens & Nea Kavala) - Southern Italy (Lampedusa, Reggio Calabria, Rochelle Ionica and Crotone) - Morocco (various earthquake affected areas such as Amizmiz) - Mozambique (3 different districts working with children with disabilities) I've also helped plan & coordinate missions to various other countries, and collaborated with many different organisations including MSF, SOS Children's Villages and IOM to name but a few. I have successfully managed various projects at different refugee camps and multiple shelters in Italy, mainland Greece and across the Greek islands (Samos, Kos and Lesvos). Just some of the many things I have been involved in previous organisations: - Multiple NFI (Non-Food Items) distributions in and just outside of refugee camps, involving sleeping bags, blankets, diapers, shoes, clothes etc. - Managed many diverse teams of coordinators, visiting and resident/community volunteers, including training, recruiting, scheduling, meetings and coordinating with other orgs - coordinated & managed teams for shelter maintenance for over 7,000 people. Sometimes fixing 100-200 tents in a single day - managed a foodline with 35 volunteers, providing 3 meals daily for up to 2,000 people in Moria Camp, Lesvos. - Worked alongside or collaborated with over 45 other Non-governmental organisations in Greece. The RED NOSES organisation also does a variety of other work for children, the elderly and those with disabilities. So far outside my department, I’ve been fortunate enough to see the positive impact clowns can make to an elderly nursing home in Austria, children’s hospitals in Czech Republic & Slovakia, and a clown show for Ukrainian refugees in Poland. #InLaughterThereIsHope Red Noses International
