Daniel Cao’s Expertise I was a PhD student and now transitioned into a postdoc at the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering (PME) at the University of Chicago, specializing in applying single-cell next-generation sequencing analysis to T-cell biology for both fundamental science and clinical research. With my undergraduate and master’s training in physics at the University of Cambridge, I have equipped myself with strong analytical skills and mathematical background. I decided to then pursue a PhD in the field of immunology because I am strongly motivated to address real-world challenges and make tangible contributions to society. After joining a young lab, I quickly taught myself T-cell immunology and sequencing analyses, and I submitted my first sequencing-based paper in my second year.Since then, I have expanded my knowledge to various single-cell (sc) analyses, including multi-modality data integration and RNA velocity analyses, applying them to multiple projects on systems ranging from mouse models of exhausted T cells in cancer/chronic infection to patient data from CD19 CAR therapies.
