Darshan Kakkad’s Expertise I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, US, where my primary research focus is investigating the impact of supermassive black holes on the evolution of galaxies. To conduct this research, I analyze vast amounts of data collected from ground-based and space telescopes, including the recently launched James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). I am the Principal Investigator (PI) for several observing programs on telescopes like JWST, VLT/MUSE, and JVLA. I work collaboratively with large international groups and consortiums such as BASS, SUPER, S7, ELT HARMONI, and 4MOST. Throughout my career, I have actively contributed to the scientific community, with 9 first-author manuscripts published in peer-reviewed journals and SPIE proceedings, along with over 35 manuscripts where I have been a co-author. I have also presented my research in over 50 presentations, ranging from conferences to public talks and student lectures. Additionally, I have mentored and supervised six students, serving as both a primary and a co-advisor. My enthusiasm for coding and programming has driven me to develop new analysis algorithms. I frequently employ Python-based pipelines, working with Jupyter notebooks and utilizing libraries such as numpy, pandas, matplotlib, keras, pytorch, and other similar packages. To further enhance my work, I use both local and cloud-based servers like AWS and Google Collab for developing and testing software packages primarily used in astronomical data analysis. My role in the field of Astronomy has a lot to do with being a data scientist and a software developer, which allows me to delve into the fascinating study of the origins of the Universe. If you're interested in discussing my research further or exploring the potential applications of my work in other fields, I would be delighted to connect with you and engage in more conversations.
