David Bavin’s Expertise I am an interdisciplinary conservation scientist combing training in zoology, ecology and the social sciences. I have a particular interest in wildlife translocations/reintroductions, restoration ecology, and tackling environmental conflicts. Most recently, I authored the first comprehensive assessment of the social feasibility of prospective lynx reintroduction in Scotland, for the Lynx to Scotland partnership. Interdisciplinary scientist: I have a valuable combination of training and experience in zoology, ecological restoration, social science and facilitation. Diplomacy and facilitation: I have the ability to work with communities and a range of stakeholder interests to communicate science, mediate conflict, and solve problems. Holistic knowledge of rural land use, and historic and contemporary environmental issues. Wildlife reintroductions: I have a specialized knowledge and experience of planning and implementing reintroductions. Strong communicator: I am skilled across all forms of communication, to diverse audiences from different backgrounds and professions. Project design and visioning: I am a creative, ‘outside the box’ thinker, with a consistent drive to work at the forefront of change. Field skills: I am competent field naturalist. Radio tracking; monitoring mammals using sign surveys and camera trapping; British Bird Survey, Phase 1 habitat survey and statistical analysis of field data
