Coordinate City departments need for GIS project support; identify applications and methods for spatial projects. Develop and implement long and short-term GIS plans, goals and priorities for the City of Providence. Request proposals, negotiate and administer professional contracts for GIS services and coordinate with other departments the provision of related services. Facilitate the sharing of geographic information across different departments within the City and explore new applications (web-based, GPS, etc) for the use of GIS to address municipal needs.Design, manage and update Townu2019s geospatial database and develop data standards for town-wide implementation based on departmental workflows and practices. Support and direct data acquisition and development while adhering to industry standard QA/QC procedures. Coordinate the use of GIS data and software within Town departments to address variety of spatial needs. Develop training materials and provide instruction and technical support to municipal employees in support of town-wide GIS initiative. Managed regional planning organizationu2019s GIS network. Conducted database design, data development, and spatial analysis for MAPC projects, such as the Metrofuture project (www.metrofuture.org), which involves the creation of alternative growth scenarios for the Metro Boston Region. Provided technical support for both municipal and regional projects such as zoning reform, mixed-use overlay districts and transportation corridor planning for Metro Boston region Created high quality cartographic maps for project outreach materials, agency publications and legislative purposes.Designed and managed the development of desktop and web-based GIS applications through federally mandated multi-stage quality assurance process. Provided technical assistance to internal staff and NOAA constituents with regard to the integration and use of GIS to address project specific needs. Delivered ESRI certified training course and designed and administered NOAA CSC GIS trainings to a variety of audiences. Designed and managed the development of desktop and web-based GIS applications through federally mandated multi-stage quality assurance process. Provided technical assistance to internal staff and NOAA constituents with regard to the integration and use of GIS to address project specific needs. Delivered ESRI certified training course and designed and administered NOAA CSC GIS trainings to a variety of audiences. The Rhode Island Geographic Information System (RIGIS) Executive Committee provides policy guidance, oversight, and coordination of the collective efforts of organizations in Rhode Island using GIS technology. It seeks to coordinate data development, adopt technical standards, set distribution policy for GIS products, promote the use of GIS, and provide information and assistance to users. The Committee does not have authority over RIGIS participants but reaches decisions by consensus. Quarterly meetings are held throughout the year.The RIGIS Coordinator at the Rhode Island Department of Administration/Statewide Planning Program provides staff support and acts as liaison for RIGIS within the state, the northeast region, and nationally. Member and partner organizations also contribute, particularly by working conjunction with individual RIGIS Executive Committee Working Groups. The Committee is not funded as a separate unit of state government.The New England Chapter of the Urban & Regional Information Systems Association (NEURISA) is a professional organization that provides a forum for: promoting and facilitating the use and integration of spatial information technology, fostering relationships, professional development, and representing the interests of Geographic Information System (GIS) practitioners and Information Technology professionals across the New England region.
