David Forrest’s Expertise David holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from McMaster University. David has been practicing physiotherapy for 17 years with a very strong focus in manual therapy and corrective exercise prescription. He believes in finding the true origin of a client’s symptoms, treating them with a hands on approach followed by providing exercise to maintain and restore normal human motion. David was also an athletic and personal trainer spanning all personal clientele and athletes. It is this experience of helping others attain their goals that helped David make the decision to become a physiotherapist. David worked and managed from its inception the onsite Chrysler rehabilitation clinic for 11 years. Working in this environment treating between 3000- 4000 orthopaedic clients shaped the way he treats clients today. In 2000 David attained his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialty with the National Strength and Conditioning Association in the United States and has attended several conferences and special interest group seminars. After obtaining his Certified Integrated Manual Therapy Designation he was an instructor with the Great Lakes institute of Manual Therapy, teaching evaluation, treatment and manual therapy techniques to physical therapists in cities across the United States. As an athlete David played hockey at the junior level, and was a provincial level multi-sport athlete in track and field, volleyball and cross country running. His experiential knowledge of sport from an athletic perspective provides an advantage when it comes to training athletes. David is a firm believer in long term athletic development when it comes to training young athletes. The priority is to develop proper movement skills, age appropriate strength and sport applied skill development. Moreover, proper athletic training is critical in preventing injuries. When a young athlete learns properly they will enjoy what they do, mitigating youth attrition rates in sport.
