  I have proudly served in the field of law enforcement for more than 30 years, having begun my career as a police officer with the Village of Swansea, IL in 1990. I was later hired to serve at the Madison County Sheriff's Office in Edwardsville, IL, where I remained for the next 26 years. I was promoted through the ranks beginning in 1996 to the eventual rank of Captain in 2015, supervising various police personnel for more than 21 years, and serving in a command/administrative capacity for more than 16 years. I served as a patrol officer for five years, during which time I served on a U.S. Marshal's Office Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force and later as a Field Training Officer training new recruits. I was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1996 at which time I assumed the responsibility of serving as the department's Field Training Coordinator, overseeing the overall operations of the department's Field Training of newly hired officers. As a Sergeant I was also charged with the responsibility of supervising several other police patrol officers as well as a Community Oriented Policing (C.O.P.S) unit. I was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2001 at which time I was assigned to, and assumed the responsibility of managing a platoon of officers. I served in this capacity as a Patrol Division Watch Commander for several years, having also served as the Division Commander of the Civil Process Division. I was nominated and later invited by the Federal Bureau of Investigations to attend the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA in the Spring of 2015, from which I graduated as a proud member of the FBINA Session 260. I was promoted to the rank of Captain in 2015 and served in the capacity of the Madison County Jail Administrator, overseeing the overall operations of the county jail, before retiring in August of 2017. From August of 2017 to October of 2018 I served as an Administrative Judicial Deputy Sheriff Supervisor for the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office in Clayton, MO where I supervised more than 40 Judicial Bailiffs who provided courtroom security at the St. Louis County Courthouse.
