David Schultz’s Expertise My name is David Schultz and I’m an acoustic consultant with 4 years of experience. My expertise lies in noise mapping and large-scale noise modelling projects as well as integrating GIS software functions with noise modelling practices. I have worked in the field of acoustic consulting both during and after completing my Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) graduating with honours at the Queensland University of Technology. I specialise in the specific area of noise modelling - in particular noise mapping and large-scale noise modelling projects. Recently I have completed modelling of the entire State Controlled Road network in Queensland as well as modelling all of the major rail track alignment in Queensland (approximately 5,400 km of rail track). These projects were completed as part of the Transport Noise Corridor upgrade and form what is understood to be the largest noise map in the world. Over the course of my experience in the industry I have developed a broad skillset in SoundPLAN and multiple GIS software packages. I have acquired a substantial skillset in GIS software to integrate the almost limitless functions of GIS software with noise modelling practices to both enhance noise models as well as simplify tasks including mapping, data importation, data exportation, result exportation and result presentation. I have also worked on projects where noise predictions were made solely within GIS software as basic planning contours. I have worked at SLR Consulting for two years and have worked on a wide array of projects requiring different knowledge and applications of the field of acoustics. I have also presented the noise modelling work for the Transport Noise Corridor Upgrade Project at the Australian Acoustical Society annual conference in Perth (November, 2017). I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working in the field of acoustics and I am looking forward to the next innovative and challenging project that I will be involved in.
