Prior to entering the higher education sector, I worked across the hospitality industry in resorts, casinos and hotels as a trade qualified Chef in both subordinate and leadership positions. My journey into the higher education system began after I enrolled in and completed a 4 year science degree (1st class Hons) with a Chemistry major. After graduation, I applied for and successfully obtained a full time position managing the scientific analytical equipment within the School of Chemistry and Physics at Flinders. I subsequently obtained the role of WHS Manager within the School before moving into my current role as Manager-Laboratory Services within the newly formed College of Science and Engineering. I currently manage the technical team supporting the teaching laboratory and field activities across all sciences disciplines (Chemistry, Physics, Earth and Environmental Science and Biological Sciences) within the College of Science and Engineering. Within this role, I enjoy the problem-solving aspects and the opportunity to work with a wide variety of personality types across the organisation. My work leading teams in changing and often challenging workplace environments both within the private and the public sectors has developed my experience as a leader.
