  Dong Chen received his B.S. from South China University of Technology, majoring in Semiconductor Physics and Devices. He received his M.S. from Zhongshan (Sun Yat-sen) University (1985) and Ph. D. degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison (1992), both in Physics. His Ph.D. thesis involved studies of structural phase transition of doped conducting polymer.
