I help them climb over the technical, structural, and bureaucratic obstacles to reaching their desired level of Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability in their systems and data. I've always been the "computer guy" and for as long as I can remember I've had an eye for noticing the holes in the way things work. When I walk past a building with a tree branch next to a window or a garbage bin beside the roof access ladder I automatically think about how those vulnerabilities might be exploited (and fixed). It was a natural step for me to combine those traits by making a career out of investigating how computers and security work (and don’t work) together. I can't treat sick people, clean up polluted water, or build schools, but I can enable the people who do those things to do them safely and securely without outside interference. That's what motivates me.
