I've taken this to heart so far in my life: striving to learn and experience a range of different skills across different disciplines. I went to university to study Chemistry because it was just that interesting to me (it still is). Outside of the natural sciences, I've also pursued the following adventures: - Taught myself programming. I used my new skills here to write several programs including a scraper to collect data off websites like Instagram and Facebook for an app, and a python wrapper for the pastebin.com API. - Interned in a private equity company. Coming from a purely scientific background, entering the world of business was daunting at first. There were many new concepts to learn, but once I got the hang of it I found that the data analysis skills I gained during my university education really came into play. I was even able to analyse data and propose strategies that were actually implemented by the management! - Signed up for a 10 week intensive "full-stack" web development course at NEXT Academy Malaysia to learn how to make websites (HTML, CSS, JS, Ruby, Rails, PostgreSQL etc.). - Learned how to juggle 3 balls. I always thought that juggling was too difficult and that I would never be able to develop the coordination and technique needed to do it. But if there's anything that motivates me, it's learning new things and realizing that with enough hard work and effort, nothing is out of reach. - Acted and danced in various performances- because performing in front of hundreds of people really helps with speaking in front of crowds, and to important groups of people with confidence. It is my goal to be a well rounded, but focused worker. I am always willing to learn new things to get a job done, and I believe that hard work trumps complacent talent every time. Grab
