Ed Andres’s Expertise Creative Development for: Sundance Spas, Egg Harbor Yachts, The American Institute of Physics, Olin Chemical, Pacific Industries, Sun Pool & Spa Products. A specialized agency with a strong focus on B2C marketing and expertise in managing a full range of advertising services, including print, radio, and TV commercials. As a member of the creative team I was responsible for design and production of all levels of work, frombasic 2-color pieces to complex 7-color brochures, logos, magazine ads, direct mail, retail signage and point-of purchase displays. I was directly responsible for prep and preflight of all jobs going to press, as well as the direct management of printers, service bureaus, and other vendors. Additionally, I maintained all agency computer systems, including network operations, archiving, software updates, and equipment recommendations vital to design team productivity.I was originally hired as a publications designer, but my leadership skills were quickly recognized and, within a few short months, I was promoted to the position of Assistant Publications Manager. I was directly responsible for managing a team of designers - assigning and monitoring their workloads, providing both creative and technical guidance, and ensuring deadlines were. I was directly responsible for managing printers, reviewing and approving press proofs, and quality control. In addition to these responsibilities, I continually used my creative skills to develop various brochures, logos and software packaging that were beyond the typical capabilities of the company, opening them to new and more creative work for their clients. Our client list included companies such as Kodak, Eastman Chemical, American Airlines, and Northrop Grumman.Creative Development for: Lexus, Holland America, Microsoft, Resorts Condominium International, Starz, Bank of America, Andretti Motorbikes, Aquastar, Arcurrio. As one of the largest independent digital agencies in the world, Story Worldwide believes the key to brand success is effective brand storytelling in any channel, in any language, anywhere in the world. As an art director for hire, I developed creative for many global brands, including Lexus, Holland America, Microsoft, RCI, and Bank of America, just to name a few. I worked directly with company offices in Seattle, New York and London. I was originally brought in to develop custom media kits for magazines produced by the agency. My extensive creative experience was quickly drawn upon on for numerous other projects, including branding, annual reports, creative concepts presentations, brochure and publication design, magazine ads, brand studies, and a wide range of other projects. Even as a freelancer, my role for the company has very often been client facing, presenting ideas, explaining creative approach and working directly with clients to satisfy their particular marketing needs. A large portion of my work was focused on magazine and editorial design for Lexus Magazine and Mariner Magazine (Holland America). I’ve been involved in all aspects magazine development - including planning, design, establishing style guidelines, art directing photo shoots, commissioning illustrators, working directly with editorial and production teams, and review and mark up of digital blue lines. My work with Story has given me an even broader range of experiences, on a global scale, in virtually all channels of marketing.Creative Development for: National Geographic, MCI, AOL, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the National Retail Federation, the National Association of Broadcasters Show, Hanley-Wood, Virginia Commerce Bank, and many, many others. One of my favorite jobs of all time. As an art director and an integral creative player for this award-winning agency, I developed creative for numerous high profile companies. At DS&F, my role was typically client facing. I was responsible for working directly with clients, and designing and producing an endless variety of creative projects… full campaigns, annual reports, brochures, packaging design, logo and brand development, trade show booths… the list goes on. Additionally, I provided day-to-day creative direction and management of designers, worked with writers, art directed photo shoots, and supervised printing. The team I worked with was brilliant, and leaving was an extremely difficult decision. But I also had a long time dream to move west. To travel the backroads of America. To write about and photograph my experiences. To see the country in a way few get to… small towns, national parks, forgotten highways, and the many vast and beautiful landscapes to America. I continued to work for DS&F as a freelancer for many years, and to this day consider them greatest of friends.Creative Development for: Starbucks, C.C. As a design consultancy, I provide a wide range of start-to-finish creative services, including concept development, branding, copy writing, brochures, marketing materials, and annual reports. When necessary, I bring together and effectively manage resources specific to the project and the needs of my clients. A full service research, marketing, advertising, design, and public relations firm. As a designer, I developed a wide range of projects, including full color brochures, direct mail, logos, magazine and newspaper ads, trade show collateral, sales presentations, and environmental design. I worked directly with clients and account executives to develop concepts, pitch new accounts, and produce creative, effective marketing and communications collateral. Also responsible for all levels of production, including obtaining competitive print bids, preparing final files for press or publication, attending press checks and working directly with printers.
