Ed Hard’s Expertise Ed Hard is a Research Scientist and Manager of the Transportation Planning Program of the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) in College Station, Texas. He has over 23 years of experience as a professional transportation planner, including 11 years in university research, 10 years in the public sector, and two years in consulting. Throughout his career, his work and experience have been focused in the areas of integrating transportation/land development and in travel surveys to support urban travel forecasting models. Ed serves as TTI’s manager for the development and analysis travel surveys in Texas, and he leads research in new and emerging technologies for collecting data for transportation planning and travel behavior research. He served as lead author on Guidelines on Corridor Management in Texas and A Guidebook on Preserving and Enhancing the Functionality of Highways in Texas and has conducted over 45 outreach workshops throughout the state of Texas on coordinating and integrating transportation and land development. Prior to his current position, he was the Transportation Planner for the City of College Station, Texas. Mr. Hard received a Master of Urban Planning from Texas A&M University in 1988 and received his AICP certification in 1994. He is a regular speaker at national conferences and in 2010 was invited to Beijing, China to assist in the development of a travel survey for this mega-city of 20 million. He is a member of the Transportation Research Board’s Transportation and Land Development and Travel Survey Method’s Committees.
