For three decades I have designed and run educational business simulations and taught executive management courses. Simulations have been around for decades, but they have changed a lot from the worksheet exercises of 30 years ago which covered primarily finance and business strategy. I saw a real opportunity to use modelling technology to develop simulations that could focus on the people skills that individuals and organisations need, not just quantitative skills. As a result, I co-founded learning technology company Ososim with Jonathan Knight in 2008. Today, simulations can be easily customised and more realistic, making them much more effective for transferring learning to daily work and delivering long term behavioural change. Our simulations cover key development areas including Leadership, Change Management, Decision Making, Strategic Execution, Stakeholder Communications, Intercultural Management, Finance and Business Acumen and Complex Sales. I enjoy working with clients, academics and thought leaders to turn concepts and abstract challenges into concrete scenarios and insights. It’s very rewarding to engage with these clients and partners over a period of weeks or months to develop customised simulations and tailored learning programmes which bring learning to life for participants. Each client has their own unique set of challenges and many are looking for innovative ways of delivering learning. I work in collaboration with them on the entire process from defining the objective to delivering the end product. I facilitate simulations virtually and face-to-face all over the world for senior executives, middle managers and graduates, helping participants learn from their experiences.
