My aspiration to become a genetic counselor is driven by my desire to help patients have a comprehensive understanding of their health so that they may feel empowered to make informed decisions and participate in their care. Also, I want to make a difference in people’s lives when they are in need and I have started by volunteering as a crisis counselor for the Crisis Text Line. Part of my philosophy is that good health starts with good education- I am passionate about sharing knowledge as I have presented my work at several conferences, participated in the demonstration team with the Chemistry Society to bring science to the public, and serve as a reading mentor for the San Antonio Youth Literacy program to help empower students reading abilities.
