Emiko Div’s Expertise Spiritual direction is a three-part encounter: God, the person being directed and the spiritual director, in communion with one another so that the person directed may grow in relationship with God. As a Christian spiritual director, I offer one-on-one Ignatian spiritual direction to individuals who desire to deepen their life in Christ and their prayer life. In Ingatian spiritual direction, we pay attention to movements of the soul, in order to recognize how persons are drawn closer to God, and how they are pulled farther away from Him. We do so by reflecting on their prayer life and their daily experiences by asking evocative questions. In spiritual direction I offer a safe and confidential space to talk about one's experiences with God, resources for the journey and my listening presence in a non-judgmental way. Prayerful persons may also seek spiritual direction while dealing with specific needs: discerning new faith experiences, facing a serious decision, and the like. In addition to one-on-one spiritual direction, I speak on topics related to Christian spiritual formation and soul care at retreats or conferences.
