Eskil Andersen’s Expertise I am a talented scientist and engineer that graduated with a PhD in Biochemistry from CUNY in 2021 and a MScEng in Biotechnology in 2012 from KTH, Sweden (ranked 72 QS World University Rankings - highest in Sweden) which gave me a broad scientific background in biotech, chemistry, cell biology, physics and mathematics and computational methods. I am personally interested in programming and machine learning and I am experienced in C, C++, Java, Ruby, JS, and Python, HTML and CSS etc. I am flexible and work well as an individual contributor or as a team member. Familiar with working and collaborating in teams and capable of performing well in fast paced environments while keeping my cool and paying attention to detail, troubleshoot as issues appear, and deliver results on-time. Afterwards I joined the PhD program at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY). I graduated in 2021 and during my tenure in Dr. Ronald Koder’s lab at the City College of New York (CCNY) I have worked on the design of artificial photosynthesis proteins. I have gained expertise in molecular cloning, PCR, assay development, protein expression, protein and chemical purification, organic synthesis, assay development, electrochemistry, spectroscopic techniques such as absorption and fluorescence spectrometry, NMR, CD, laser flash photolysis etc. During my PhD candidature I gained excellent oral and written communication skills as I presented at scientific conferences, and published papers as well as my PhD Thesis on using the Marcus inverted region to drive charge separation in artificial/designed photosynthetic proteins. I contributed to grant writing, and provided text and data for a NYSERDA grant which awarded close to 1,000,000. I edited and fact-checked for "Introduction to Pharmaceutical Bioinformatics" (553 pages) by Prof. MD, PhD, Jarl Wikberg et al, Uppsala U., Sweden (ISBN 978-91-519-6000-5; Oakleaf Academic Publishing House; www.oakleafacademic.com). 2021-2022 I worked at Opentrons inc. as an Apps. engineer writing automated liquid handling protocols for the OT-2 liquid handling robot in Python and JSON. This was a client facing role where I interacted with customers to deliver protocols to run their lab workflows. Protocols that I wrote automated such workflows as NGS library preparation, PCR preparation, sample application for slides, and academic scientific workflows. I have entrepreneurial experience, having co-founded an E-commerce site, and programmed its CMS, sales, and inventory systems in Ruby on Rails with a turnover of 20,000.
