Having worked from the basic bottom of being a pharmacy cashier for Walgreens, to graduating pharmacy school, being promoted to manager within a year, and now having the opportunity to come aboard Ochsner, I have gained valuable knowledge of patient centered care in multiple aspects of the healthcare industry. During my career at Walgreens, I piloted and implemented the MTM and immunization program for the three districts of New Orleans. Seeing the change of healthcare to focus on more outpatient driven services, it was my passion for retail that led me to take the lead and ensure proper training of all pharmacists in our 3 districts to be trained immunizers and knowledgeable on how to perform proper MTM services. The success of these programs in Walgreens districts still lives on and reaches many patients. Continuing my focus for patient excellence, I was given the opportunity to become a part of Ochsner Health Systems. Being promoted within three months to open a brand new retail pharmacy at our Baptist location was honorable. Building this location from the ground proved to be challenging and exciting. Working with interdisciplinary medical teams allowed me to build and implement a successful med-to-bed program, work on opioid stewardship within the hospital, and facilitate workflows for specialty medications to our URAC accredited specialty pharmacy. I also have unique opportunities with the clinics of this campus and provide special services they need to help their individual patients. Since coming on with Ochsner, I have been recognized numerous times by my campus executive suite and our COO of our Health System.
