Consistently maintained University Academic Standing: Excelling throughout 2014-2015. Confirmed to graduate with Distinction in November 2015. Completed Master's degree in 10 months (14 months less than the 2 year prescribed time frame). Research report to be published - date to be confirmed. Research report titled: "Community Policing as a Law Enforcement Strategy to Help Prevent the Trafficking of Burmese Women & Girls into Thailand for the Purpose of Sexual Exploitation". Duties & Responsibilities include: Collaborating with marginalized, vulnerable and at risk communities provided me with the opportunity to build effective work relationships built on trust and equal partnership with a broad range of community stakeholders to enhance community safety, minimize crime levels and reduce victimization. Achievements include: I received commendation in 2008 for leading and coordinating a number of successful crime operations that specifically targeted organized criminal activities at district level. A significant decline across various categories of crime by 40%. I successfully managed the criminal intelligence portfolio which formed an integral part of the information analysis that informed interventions during a collaborative inter-agency response aimed at dismantling organized criminal syndicates and the confiscation of their assets under the Proceeds of Crime Act. I led the agenda, spoke as a police representative and managed the 'Safety within Schools' program at school meetings, conferences, social engagements and community events to address crime and social issues such as cyber bullying, teenage suicide, substance abuse, domestic violence and community safety. With a desire to give back to the community, I represented the Palmerston North Police during fundraising activities collaborating with New Zealand Red Cross to raise $20,000 to help Pacific Island countries that were devastated by the 2004 tsunami.Duties & Responsibilities include: My background in designing and implementing community safety projects, building and managing key strategic partnerships with government, private sector and civil society stakeholders meant I was an automatic selection to help with the national implementation of security sector reform initiatives to successfully develop East Timor's criminal justice services into strong democratic institutions under the United Nations. Achievements include: Successfully trained & mentored teams of East Timorese and United Nations Police staff in various areas of law enforcement practices including crime scene management, investigative interviewing, evidence gathering, prosecution management and human rights. I helped with the national management of the Community Policing program by advising on operational strategies, resource allocation and program effectiveness evaluation after a six month implementation period. Planned and coordinated community conflict resolution initiatives that enhanced community safety and drastically reduced tribal violence by 60%. Successfully managed partnerships and collaborated with government aid organizations and NGOs such as NZAID, Australia AID, Alola Foundation and Oxfam to improve access for vulnerable and marginalized communities to social, health and legal services providers. I taught myself to speak Tetum which is the official language of East Timor to communicate with village chiefs, community elders, religious ministers, government officials and ordinary village folk to learn more about their cultural, social and political milieu as well as gathering useful intelligence to identify crime hots-pots and criminal activity.Duties & Responsibilities include: My role as a front-line Police Constable offered me the opportunity to deliver high quality customer service to the New Zealand public, forge strong Police-Community partnerships to ensure mutual cooperation regarding crime prevention initiatives, enhance public order and citizen safety and implement a rights-focused and victim-centric approach to law enforcement. Achievements include: I responded to emergency situations where I have saved lives by talking potential victims out of self-harm, comforted distraught victims at fatal vehicle crashes, defused violent confrontations and armed conflict through good communication and negotiation skills, foiled planned and intended criminal activities through proactive deterrence patrolling, assured elderly victims of crime by facilitating access to health, legal and social service providers for them and helping victims successfully seek financial compensation and justice through due process. I used my language and cultural skills, initiative and sound judgement to identify and obtain confessions from offenders, secure evidence that strengthened the prosecution process and bring closure to victims in criminal cases that otherwise would never have been resolved. In 2004, I achieved the highest results in 3 consecutive quarters in terms of reaching key response activities (KRA) and enforcement-related tasks which boosted my section's productivity levels by 35% and also recognized my section as the highest performing unit for the year. In 2005, I received recognition for displaying sound leadership qualities through crime management, coordination of resources, strong decision-making when formulating responses and exercising judgement after several stints in a highly demanding supervisory role as an Acting Sergeant in the front-line within the General Duties Branch.Duties & Responsibilities include: I managed and coordinated a wide range of crime management operations and investigations. I provided overall control and oversight of all aspects of operations from the planning phase to execution and evaluation stages. My experience in the intelligence analysis aspect of crime control, allowed me to manage all facets of intelligence analysis: from collecting, collating to analyzing and disseminating intelligence products to support / inform decision-making and policy-formulation regarding crime prevention measures at the strategic, tactical and operational level. Being selected to assist with high profile crime investigations at both district and national level meant senior management recognized my ability to work within a team, exercise sound judgement, influential leadership and strong decision-making in achieving operational goals and desired outcomes. Part of my role was also building effective working partnerships with government, private and civil society networks to develop inter-organizational capacities towards formulating effective response measures to enhance public safety and to mitigate crime levels and social disorder. Achievements include: With the ability to coordinate and lead a team of Senior Detectives, I was given the responsibility to plan and manage the execution of various crime prevention operations simultaneously, hitting the ground running to reach critical time frames. Specific categories of offences targeted during the operations which contributed directly to high levels of crime in Palmerston North were significantly reduced by 40%. With an eye for detail and ability to review large amounts of data and information, I collated intelligence derived from open and closed sources, analyzed financial statements, assess evidence-related material, developed inferences and proposed responses that led to the resolution of 37 / 45 fraud cases in 3 months.
