  I am writing as a teacher who, for some time has harboured an interest in sharing and developing a philosophic approach to life. I hesitate to define this as a desire to teach Philosophy since I could in no way claim to be an authority. I have no academic qualification in Philosophy, but then I feel it beyond the defined constraints of qualification and so much more than just an academic pursuit. Even the convention of ‘it’ seems inadequate. I might refer to a loved one as ‘her’ or ‘she’ when, in truth I abhor the distinction implied and so it is with Truth for such is the concern of Philosophy. My philosophic background extends to a long held appreciation of various texts / scriptures backed up by several years’ membership of a group dedicated to practical philosophy from a predominantly Vedantic perspective at the School of Economic Science in London through which I’ve also embraced the study of Sanskrit. My teaching career to date has been dedicated to Design & Technology at Secondary level backed up by many years in industry. However, having encountered redundancy a few years ago and now being in my mid-fifties, I have since struggled against evident ageism to secure adequately fulfilling work to suit my experience. However, this has given me the opportunity to reflect on just how I might share and offer to potential employers a love of Truth in the classroom at all key stages. I would be very interested in ideas on how I might best develop a course as a means of not only sharing practical Philosophy beyond qualification, but emphasising this as crucial to valid appreciation of all other subjects.
