Gang Zhang’s Expertise My research program focuses on using quantum mechanics and molecular dynamics to simulate electronic, thermal, and optical properties of novel materials and structures in important engineering problems. We aim to develop a fundamental understanding of the processes underlying important new technologies and to establish atomistic simulations as a tool for material design. Problems we investigate include: • Nanoscale Thermal Conduction • Thermoelectric Materials: Energy Transfer and Harvesting • Nano-Electronics: Transport Through Nanotubes, Nanowires and Graphene • Molecular Dynamics and Quantum Chemistry Simulations I have authored or co-authored more than 70 publications in the peer-reviewed international journals, including 1 review article in Reviews of Modern Physics, 1 in Nature Communications, 6 in Nano letters and Nano Today, and more than 10 invited reviews and book chapters.
