  In describing my current professional aspirations and status the perfect phrase would be "in progress." As someone who joined the scientific community in an unconventional way, according to how most get here, I am finding that my journey is not as unique as I once assumed. There are others who share, similarly, my experiences both the catalysts and setbacks. Herein lies my purpose--people. I am drawn to others not only to learn, develop, and succeed but also to pour into, encourage, and propel them forward. All the while noting that my exceptional work ethic, bench-top analytical skills, awareness of others and the spaces I am in, my genuineness and authenticity, focus, discipline, and synergistic efforts in collaborative environments are what I am good at. Allowing me to participate integrally in one of my superior's obtaining their first RO1 grant and expanding their reach by recruiting graduate students and an additional scientific expert into their lab. Likewise, serving as the primary point person for receiving, processing, and storing donor specimens for another. Permitting streamlining of these processes and enhanced tracking of these samples as a newly hired technician smoothly transitioned into my role to continue improving on what I achieved. These current professional experiences and others in the past, are empowering me to call upon my internal actuation and self-confidence to be in surroundings and have associations that would otherwise be unavailable to someone like me. My immediate goals are to advance my scientific conceptualization skills, gain work responsibilities that improve my versatility and translate my competencies in new ways, team management, and partnership and relationship building.
