The training was intense, uncomfortable, and powerful. I connected with people from all over and was forced to deal with all that I had been avoiding. The training challenged me both mentally and physically. Being the impulsive person that I am once I got back to the states, I dove right into teaching. As a teacher, I encourage students to practice all the components of yoga by giving knowledge of the asanas, philosophy, meditation, pranayama, mudras, and mantras. I encourage students to come to practice just as they are. Yoga is not a time to escape; it is a time to connect deeper. It is essential to honor the stillness within and to hold space for that stillness. When people hear yoga, they first think of the physical, which is only a small part. Yoga is movement, awareness, meditation, pranayama, connection, healing, learning, transcending, gratitude, discomfort, trust, simply being with yourself, and honoring the creative force within. It is a personal journey inward. At one point in my life, I had no idea what I wanted or knew my passion. My journey inward has changed everything - my perception, confidence, and energy. I know now what I want, who I am, and where I am going. All living beings are powerful with a purpose. My life goal is to help others connect with their power and purpose.
