He was a command pilot with more than 2,000 flying hours in the F-4, F-16, AT-38 and F-117A. Alston served as commander, 49th Operations Support Squadron during Operation Desert Strike. Alston is a published author on the topics of safety, aviation, leadership and risk management. He is a member of the Advisory Council to the center of Aerospace Safety and Security Education (CASE), a life member of the Space and Flight Equipment Association (SAFE), and a member of the International Society of Air Safety Investigation (ISASI). Alston received a bachelor’s degree in aviation management from Metropolitan State College of Denver and a master’s degree in aviation management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He recently received a PhD in Business Administration from Northcentral University.
