As a Delivery-person, I believe that the absolute vital activity that we must bring to our work is the ability to prioritise. We have limited resources: time, money, attention and mental capacity, goodwill and so on. And yet the problems to solve are infinite. This means we must, must, must choose what we devote those resources to. And like, Deming says, when working out how to prioritise we must ask, "By what method." As a leader, I value integrity in the people I lead and those I'm lead by. I believe that one leads by example, that my responsibility as a leader is to articulate vision and inspire my cohort, to identify and work towards providing the resources and filling the gaps in my team's knowledge and capabilities and removing the hurdles that prevent them from doing their best work. I believe that teams are greater than the sum of their parts and that the best teams are made up of people who bring diverse skills, backgrounds, perspectives and capabilities to bear on the problems they're solving.
