As UNESCO World Heritage sites are more than often related to rock materials and their peculiarities I expanded my area of specialization to then becoming a cultural Resources Manager, as a result of which I managed the arduous task of creating yet another Institution: the Conservation and Restoration Center in Petra (a World heritage site) in the Kingdom of Jordan, a marvel of breathtaking monuments (just google it) carved out - and now you might guess how I came to this wonderful assignment - from the there presents rock (!) formations, here a peculiar reddish sandstone. Again a fully equipped, disposing of sophisticated gear such as laboratory facilities, printer, plotters, surveying equipment , machinery, vehicles and much more. Of course, formation of specialized personell was again of key importance. In the end I finally also succeeded in generating the funds and permits necessary for the erection of a new building for the center, designed by our Jordanian project staff.
